This is one area that I was deeply disappointed. Its a pity that he is not able to deliver contextual humor in his projects. Ironically, all the previously named projects were written by Trivikram. When was the last time we saw natural, non vulgar humor in a telugu movie? After classics like Nuvvunakunachhav, Manmadhudu, Malleswari and Nuvve Nuvve and Athadu it seems like the tollywood industry ran dry off humor. Second, the comedy track took the same old – slap the comedian route. The second half takes a better start but uses the same tools as every other ‘family entertainer’ to drag the story to some end.įirst, the hero’s characterization as a cross between superman and batman (can beat up anyone and is filthy rich) did not work well for me. Most of the first half was clichéd and outrageously dull. Right from the overplayed hero entrance, down to the no-closure side story ending, there were numerous things that could have been done better to make it a better movie. Not that it was bad, but just like Julai, it was just disappointing. So overall everyone got decent marks here.ĭisappointing – again. But at the emotional heart of the movie, he still left something unfulfilled. His dialogue delivery and action was good. His usual gender cross over style was good. As mentioned earlier, Nadhiya did her bit well without fooling around. There was one scene in which I thought Samantha’s expressions were really good. I personally felt some actors were heavily underused. The support cast (includes everyone other than PK and Nadhiya) did their bit in supporting the main story well. Nothing out of the ordinary here as well. A few years younger PK would have suited the role better but now, we don’t have a time machine, do we? I believe this came a little in his career though.

And undoubtedly, the movie was crafted for Pawan Kalyan. Nadhiya was good in her role as an arrogant yet soft in heart female. Rest of the casting was decent – Pranitha and Samantha were good. But I highly doubt if the story demanded that. Two great talents were definitely underused but c’mon, if the story demands it, that must be done. End of it.īomman Irani as the grand dad to PK and dad to Mukesh Rishi did surprise me bit. No, things weren’t that bad, but they were scary close. I would pick a no-punch liner than a bad one any day. But the feeling I can’t shake off is that Trivikram is trying too hard to pull a needle out of a haystack in every scene! Its okay not to be funny in every dialogue, you know. The one liners are decent if not as good as the previous movies (Athadu and Jalsa are my standards of comparison here). Usually, this is not a section in itself but since we have come to expect so much of Trivikram dialogues and catchy one liners (the punch lines), I had to make this one. The thing that epitomizes this is the fade in and fade out of importance between the two heroines in either half. The usage of characters or the lack of it seemed confused/confusing throughout the movie. He has done a good job in the past (not recent past) and he is definitely better than what he is doing at the moment. This is what worries me the most with Trivikram. And when a writer does that, to me it means he was not true to his game. I hate it when characters are introduced and/or killed for no good reason because it is the easiest thing to do. Any twist in the tale required the introduction of new characters, some rather unnecessary. The story was so simple that there could not be any complications woven into its core.

Though having a simple story allows the director to focus on other major areas of the film, it comes with a heavy price. The one word I would use to describe it with is – simple. None the less, there was some fresh aroma to the old wine in the new bottle. Yet, this one has a bit of freshness which, I felt, came a little too late (end of first half).

Similar concepts have been tried and tested over the years in Tollywood, so nothing genius there by Trivikram. With this backstory I decided to go to Attarintiki Daredi over The Lunch Box. I remember that day – – the day of my IIT JEE examination (I ended up in BITS Pilani though) when after that dreadful test, I took my entire family of 14 to Jalsa. So, a combination of Trivkram and Kalyan obviously got me excited. And I have nothing against Pawan, infact until a point of time I liked him because he was my namesake.

I always liked Trivikram’s direction – so much so that I watch bits of Athadu movie every time (almost) it airs in Maa TV (that would mean roughly 500 times by now). Attarintiki Daredi (which is the way to mother in law’s house – Wikipedia)
